Step 6: Refit the strike plate and test the function

Put the strike plate back in position. Make sure that the latch and bolt slide cleanly into the corresponding openings in the plate.

Tighten the strike plate screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Test the function immediately.

Close the door. Turn the key from the outside. The bolt should extend easily and fully. Open the door from the inside using the thumbturn or handle. Test the key from the inside as well.
